Tiberino boasts a unique location in Rome, L’isola Tiberina (The Tiber Island), and has its outdoor tables on “Ponte Quattro Capi” and “Piazza S. Bartolomeo”, just opposite the basilica which bears the same name, dating back to 1000 A.D. It fits business lunches, aperitifs with friends, and romantic dinners.
At Tiberino you start the day in the morning with an espresso and end it with a drink at the square or at the bar counter, after dinner.
Tiberino offers a cuisine that combines tradition and novelty.

The historical bar Tiberino, on the Tiber Island, has always been run by Bungaro family.
It all started with Grandpa Giuseppe, who opened the small café at Via Ponte Quattro, followed by his son Alfonso who in the 80ies added the food corner and the tobacco shop.

In 2002, Giuseppe Bungaro, together with his mother Mirella,has introduced the homemade ice cream shop.

The turning point has come in 2015 when Giuseppe (the grandchild!) keeping the legacy of the past has innovated with a new style recalling the bistrot ambience and with italian and roman delicious cuisine.

Giuseppe Bungaro

A pragmatic dreamer. More facts than words.

The TIberino manager is the family’s third generation. Graduated in Environmental and Territorial Engineering, following his passion for environmental protection, Giuseppe is a creative and communicative person; by character he takes a deep look into everything, both major and trivial topics. He’s a skipper, he dances tango and plays sax.

As a connoisseur, he starts his cooking career in rome; he experiences international trainings in Australia in starred cuisines; he graduates at Gambero rosso school and learns the cooking practises and refined techniques with top instructors such as Maurizio Santin. HIs records include urbana 47, and zero zero 100, various consultancies which also include hotels. His mission at Tiberino: starting at breakfast freshly baked pastries, continuing the day with creative food options, ending the day with traditional regional dishes along with aperitfs in an informal atmosphere, pulling people together.


Aida Ibro

Tiberino’s ice cream maker.

With Albanian origins, and Roman by adoption since 2002 she has started her career as an ice cream maker in her youth, at Tiberino’s counter, where Giuseppe taught her to make ice cream. After several professional courses, she became specialized in the art of ice cream making, and started to create new flavors that can satisfy even the most demanding palates. Her greatest satisfaction is to see guests coming back, even from overseas.
